My kids absolutely love summer, because it means they get to play outside. My kids usually go outside to play at least once a day, and regardless of how long they are out there, I have to bring them back in against their will. When the weather starts to cool down, it’s always a struggle to figure out how to let the kids get out their energy. One great way is to let their creative juices flow! When younger kids use their minds, it still helps them release their energy. With Halloween coming up, we decided this DIY Popsicle Stick Ghost Craft would be a great craft to do together.
Popsicle Stick Ghost Craft:
I helped get it started but let them take over the creative control. It was really fun, even though they couldn’t play outside they enjoyed our afternoon.
Supplies Needed For Our Ghost Craft:
Glue or Hot Glue Gun
How We Made It:
- Layout popsicle sticks in a square for your ghost.
- Glue popsicle sticks on the back to hold it together
- Give your little one some paint and let them create! (Make sure to lay down paper so they don’t have to worry about making a mess.
- After you let the paint dry, get a snack (or a nap), and come back and draw the face
That’s it! It’s super easy which is great so you don’t have to do too much but your little one can still exert a little independence.
What I Would Have Done Differently:
I would have done a second coat of white. The popsicle sticks really soaked in the glue.
We have those little popsicle sticks and they were harder to work with then the bigger popsicle sticks. I would definitely get the bigger popsicle sticks next time.
If you little one wants to keep their craft, glue a pipe cleaner on the back and let them hang it from their bedroom door knob!
